Namibian Hydrogeological Association

The Namibian Hydrogeological Association is a non-profit organisation of groundwater professionals who aim to promote the study and science of hydrogeology; to serve, inform and advise the public in matters of groundwater development, use and protection.
Objectives

The Association was established shortly after Independence to coordinate groundwater work in the private sector and maintain a high standard of conduct of its members. In cooperation with the Department of Water Affairs and authorized by the Department of Finance, the Association coordinates the rates for consulting work. It is a relatively small organisation comprising 50 full members: comprising hydrogeologists, geologists, and geophysicists from the private and governmental sectors. Associate members include drillers and other parties that are interested in groundwater related matters. Services include groundwater exploration and development and these may also include the determination of natural groundwater recharge; feasibility for managed aquifer recharge; vulnerability assessments; assessment of the water component for standard EIAs, etc.
